About

Teri Cettina is a journalist who focuses on personal finance and parenting & family topics. Translation: Teri is one of those unusual writers who actually gets excited about subjects like developing a family budget, outsmarting stubborn kids and contributing to Roth IRAs.

Teri’s enthusiasm comes through in her articles, which appear regularly in newsstand magazines such as Parenting, Parents, Real Simple, Reader’s Digest, Better Homes and Gardens, Woman’s Day and high-traffic websites like Bankrate.com, RealSimple.com and EverydayHealth.com. She also works regularly with companies like the Dow Jones Custom Content Lab (a specialty division of the company that publishes The Wall Street Journal) to provide consumer money articles for financial companies. She has appeared on Portland’s “AM Northwest” TV show, and several radio shows.

In addition, Teri is a coauthor of the ebook Cash in on Your Kids: Parenting Queries that Worked, a resource for other parenting/family writers.

Teri’s writing style is all about delivering real-world knowledge in a friendly, conversational voice. Busy moms, entrepreneurs and even money-savvy retirees find Teri’s well-researched articles entertaining, thought-provoking and educational. Her own hard-won lessons in parenting, family finance and the world of business add heart, humor and lots of great information. Editors love that her work is always fresh, well-researched and delivered on deadline.

Before becoming a full-time freelancer in 1997, Teri spent 10 years writing, editing and producing videos for a private university and a regional bank. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband, two young daughters and a small flock of spoiled urban chickens.
